Directions and Transportation
As Istanbul is located on two continents, Europe & Asia, you will find below abbraviations AS for Asian side and ES for European side. The travel times given below depends heavily on traffic, sea buses and subway are the most convenient ways if possible.
From Sabiha Gokcen Airport (AS) to Old city / Taksim (ES) Taxi would cost about 50 USD – takes about 1 hour; as a more budget alternative, use Havas Buses which go directly to Taksim (about 1 hour –7 USD per person), then from Taksim take a taxi to the Old City (about 15 mins – 10 USD).
From Sabiha Gokcen Airport (AS) to Kadikoy (AS) Taxi would cost about 30 USD – takes about 40 mins; as a more budget alternative, use Havas Buses which go directly to Kadikoy (about 45 mins – 7 USD per person).

From Istanbul Ataturk Airport (ES) to Old City (ES) Taxi would cost about 25 USD – takes about 40 mins; you can also take Havas Buses and get off at Aksaray (about 40 mins – 7 USD per person), there you can take a taxi (about 15 mins – 10 USD) or take the tram to the Old City.

From Istanbul Ataturk Airport (ES) to Kadikoy / Bostancı (AS) Taxi would cost about 40 USD for each direction and takes more than an hour; a better way which also avoids the traffic is to get to Bakirkoy Sea Bus Port by taxi (about 15 mins – 10 USD), then take the Sea Bus to Kadikoy or Bostancı (about 45 mins – 4 USD per person).

From Old City (ES) to Taksim (ES) You can take the tram to KABATAS than you can take the funicular tram directly to Taksim. (about 25 mins – 3 USD)
From Oldcity to Ortaköy, Bebek, Rumelihisari (Neighbourhoods at the Bosphorus shore)
You can take the tram to Kabataş than you can take the local buses from there. (Ortaköy about 25 mins, Bebek about 30 mins, Rumelihisari about 35 – 3 USD). Travel time depends heavily on traffic.
From Taksim to Ortaköy, Bebek, Rumelihisari You can take the funicular tram directly to Kabataş than you can take the local buses from there. (Ortaköy about 25 mins, Bebek about 30 mins, Rumelihisari about 35 – 3 USD). Travel time depends heavily on traffic.
From Taksim to Levent, Maslak You can take the subway directly to Levent or Maslak. (Levent 15 minutes, Maslak 21 minutes – 1 USD).
From Taksim to Üsküdar You have two alternatives first option is to take the funicular tram directly to Kabataş (5 mins) and with small ferries you can cross the Bosphorus (7 min) and get off at Üsküdar.
